Tibetan bowls can harmonize people and their surroundings

How can I play a Tibetan singing bowl?

  • Place the bowl on the palm of your left hand, keeping your fingers stretched out. Place smaller bowls on the bent fingers of your left hand, supporting the bottom from below. Hold the bowl within reach of your other hand.
  • Grip the mallet about halfway along its length, with all your fingers pointing downwards and touching the wood.
  • Gently tap the mallet against the wall of the bowl at its rim
  • With slight pressure, rub the mallet around the outer rim of the bowl in a clockwise direction.
  • Use a full arm movement, as if you were stirring soup, and hold the mallet straight up and down!
  • Do not move only your wrist, but your whole arm.
  • Remember to apply pressure to create friction between the mallet and the rim of the bowl. This creates vibrations that make the bowl ring, which is where the name singing bowl comes from.
  • You can experiment with the speed of rubbing, as well as with the pressure of the mallet. You do not have to rotate too fast at the beginning; let the sound ring out more.

Making a Tibetan bowl sing is not difficult

  • All you need is to practice the hand movement so that the bowl rings out.
  • Tibetans claim that the sound of the bowl carries the laws of the universe, which apply to everyone and everything on Earth.
  • The process of making original Tibetan bowls is shrouded in mystery, but their composition is known.
  • Each of the metals produces a different sound, and together they create a unique harmony.
  • When we make the bowl sing, it produces a sound that is said to resonate with the metals in our body and tune the whole organism into harmony.
  • According to this tradition, the human body is a living system of vibrations and wavelengths.
  • A well-tuned and healthy organism vibrates at its own frequency.
  • According to tradition, if one of the organs is ill, its frequency is disturbed and the bowl near it stops ringing or changes its tone.

Tibetan singing bowls produce a unique and deep sound

  • Their natural vibrations are full, deep and powerful and have an unusual influence on us. They act on us differently from any other musical instrument.
  • We can say that their sound is multi-harmonic. It contains many more different tones than we can hear with our ears.
  • We can use them for deep relaxation, during meditation, for stress reduction, for harmonizing the left and right hemispheres, or in other words the male and female components within us, for healing purposes, harmonizing the aura, balancing chakras or meridians, as well as for uplifting the spirit and on the path of spiritual development.

The mallets are made of natural wood and may differ slightly from the picture.
