Incense Cones

Incense cones

Incense cones are an ideal alternative to incense sticks. They are used to scent your home or any room intended for meditation, relaxation or yoga practice. Unlike incense sticks, cones produce no falling ash and heat through better, so they keep their cone shape. They are made from purely natural ingredients. The fragrance, which can be pleasantly sandalwood, floral, spicy, sweet or oriental, is not disturbed by a burning bamboo core. Incense cones are lit not only at Christmas, as they create a pleasant atmosphere associated with a time of pausing, rest, gathering, self-reflection and spiritual intention. They are also used in aromatherapy.

Incense cones were originally used in temples. Frankincense itself, together with gold and precious gifts , was reportedly brought to baby Jesus by the Three Kings as a gift. Thanks to this, the tradition first took hold in temples to help people rise to the more spiritual aspects of life. Myrrh was also added during festive ceremonies.

Incense cones had the typical scent of frankincense, which later spread to families too. The tradition comes from the Ore Mountains and is more than 300 years old. The Czech name for incense cones, "františky", probably comes from St. Francis of Assisi, who is called the founder of modern Christmas.

An incense cone usually contains charcoal and resin, which are ground and mixed into a dough. The scented cones are then pressed out of the dough with tongs and dried in the sun for some time.

An incense cone is lit over a candle for about 15–20 seconds, gently blown out, placed on a non-flammable base and left to beautifully scent the room. If you like visual effects, get a special stand with openings that creates a "flowing" smoke effect. For the stand you need special backflow incense cones that can create this effect.
