📦 In the set you will find these minerals:
ROCK CRYSTAL (Brazil)
Characteristics: A transparent, clear variety of quartz, one of the purest forms of silicon dioxide. It has a vitreous luster, high hardness (7 on the Mohs scale) and exceptional durability. Thanks to its piezoelectric properties, it is used in industry as well as in jewelry making.
Formation: It crystallizes from hot aqueous solutions in rock cavities, often in hydrothermal veins. The crystals grow over millions of years.
Occurrence: The largest deposits are in Brazil, the Alps, the USA and Madagascar. In the Czech Republic it occurs in Moravia (the Vysočina region). This stone comes from Minas Gerais in Brazil.
ROSE QUARTZ (South Africa)
Characteristics: A light to deep pink variety of quartz, often milky and cloudy. Its color is caused by fine inclusions of dumortierite, not manganese as was previously assumed. Popular in jewelry making and as a decorative stone.
Formation: It crystallizes in pegmatite veins. Its color may fade over time due to sunlight.
Occurrence: The largest deposits are in Brazil and Madagascar, as well as in the USA, India and the Czech Republic (the Vysočina region). This stone comes from mines on the border of Namibia and South Africa.
AMETHYST (Brazil)
Characteristics: A purple variety of quartz whose color is caused by iron and natural radioactivity. A prized gemstone known since antiquity. Its shades range from light purple to dark purple.
Formation: It crystallizes from hot solutions in a volcanic environment, often forming crystals on the walls of cavities – so-called amethyst geodes.
Occurrence: The most important deposits are in Brazil (Rio Grande), Uruguay, Russia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic (the Ore Mountains). This stone comes from the area around the town of Marabá in the Brazilian state of Pará.
AVENTURINE (Zimbabwe)
Characteristics: A shimmering variety of fine-grained quartz, most often in green shades thanks to inclusions of chromium mica (fuchsite). Aventurine is characterized by a glittering appearance known as aventurescence.
Formation: It forms in pegmatite and metamorphic rocks, where mineral inclusions give it its color and shimmer.
Occurrence: It is mined in India, Russia, Brazil, China and Zimbabwe, where this stone also comes from.
SODALITE (Namibia)
Characteristics: A blue to blue-white mineral, often confused with lazurite. It has a waxy luster, is opaque and relatively soft (5,5–6 on the Mohs scale). It is used in architecture and for sculpture.
Formation: It forms in alkaline igneous rocks, mainly syenites and nephelinites, when low-silica magma cools.
Occurrence: Important deposits are in Canada, Russia, Namibia and Greenland. This stone comes from the Kaokoland region in Namibia.
VOLCANIC BRECCIA (Peru)
Characteristics: A rock composed of fragments of volcanic rocks cemented by lava and ash. It has varied colors and textures and a "wild" look. Popular for jewelry and decorations.
Formation: It forms during explosive eruptions, when rocks are torn apart and then cemented together by pressure and heat.
Occurrence: Typical of areas with volcanic activity. This stone comes from Peru.
TIGER'S EYE (South Africa)
Characteristics: A golden-brown variety of quartz with a silky luster and a "cat's eye" effect. A very popular jewelry stone thanks to its radiant flashes.
Formation: It forms through the transformation of the asbestos mineral crocidolite, which is gradually replaced by quartz. The fibers retain their structure, which causes the optical effect.
Occurrence: The largest deposits are in South Africa, Australia and the USA. This stone comes from the area around the town of Prieska (South Africa).
BLACK OBSIDIAN (Mexico)
Characteristics: A natural volcanic glass, usually black with a vitreous luster. A brittle stone with extremely sharp edges, used as early as prehistoric times for making tools.
Formation: It forms through the rapid cooling of acidic lava without the crystallization of minerals.
Occurrence: It is found in areas with young volcanoes – Iceland, Mexico, Armenia, the USA (Yellowstone). This stone comes from the province of Jalisco in Mexico.
CARNELIAN (Botswana)
Characteristics: An orange-red variety of chalcedony (fine-grained quartz). A translucent stone with a waxy luster; its color is caused by iron oxide. Prized since antiquity.
Formation: It crystallizes in volcanic rocks and sediments, where silicon dioxide is colored by iron.
Occurrence: The largest deposits are in India, Brazil, Uruguay and the Czech Republic (the Krkonoše foothills). This stone comes from Botswana.
