Herkimer

Herkimer refers to very clear, double-terminated rock crystal crystals originally found near the town of Herkimer in New York State. They have a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale and often look like cut diamonds. That is why they are sometimes called Herkimer diamonds, although they are quartz.
