Rubellite
Rubellite is a red to pink variety of the mineral tourmaline. Traces of manganese give it its color. It has a hardness of 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs scale and often contains fine fractures and inclusions. Significant deposits are in Brazil, Mozambique, Nigeria and Madagascar. High-quality stones are used in jewelry.
